Backyard Hawk

A couple of weeks ago we were getting ready to have brunch when Susan said to look outside in the tree.
I peek out into the maple in the backyard and see this:



Man, that's cool. There's a hawk of some sort sitting in the tree.

We live in the city. Not a large city I admit but a city none the less. We are pretty close to downtown.
We have our brunch and are tidying up afterwards and I look outside and see this:



Apparently Mr. Hawk was hungry and we happened to have some tasty pigeons that like to feest at our bird feeders.
For the last 3 weeks we haven't seen any pigeons hanging out in the back yard... Until this past Sunday when they returned.
It's very cool to see nature at work close up.
