Medical Update

Went to the surgical specialist yesterday who was checking the spots on my liver.
They are called hemangiomas, http://tinyurl.com/2ufrl5 , and are not harmful. He told me that they had not changed since the last MRI in July and to go home and enjoy my life.
I will require no further follow-ups with him. :-)
So now I will only need to see my local oncologist in September and go from there.
Lets see what he says.

Life is good....

Oh, I took part in a study at Sunnybrook testing a new dye used for MRI's to see if the images they produce are better. It's a one time thing along with a number of other people whom I do not know.
I figured it would not hurt to help them after they have been so helpful to me.

Ontario Hydro One

I posted about the storm that came through the area where the cottage is and how the wires for electricity and phone had been torn off. The person that we talked to acknowledged that the SMART meter had indicated there was a service interuption.
We were told we still had to pay the delivery charge for something that cannot be delivered...

Today we get the bill for the month ending July whatever and the smart meter reports we have used 145 kwh of power. Can you explain to me how a meter that reports it isn't working one month can now magically use 145 kwh the next...

It can't be done. Impossible. The laws of physics cannot be suspended.
No cable to meter = 0 kwh of use. It should be fun tomorrow to hear the explaination about this.

Ontario Hydro at its money grubbing best

Here's a tale I know you'll enjoy.

Last month at our cottage a storm went through the area. There were many trees that were knocked down and lots of damage in the the area. Houses and cottages had trees fall on them, ours included.

Our cottage has holes in the kitchen and bedroom. Big ones. It is going to take some time to go through the insurance process and get someone scheduled to repair it.

The telephone and power cables have been torn off so there is no service for either of these. The phone company was called this morning and it was explained to them that there is no service due to the lack of an actual wire to the building. They have agreed, properly, that we should not have to pay for the service that we clearly cannot receive.

Ontario Hydro on the other hand says that "Delivery and Regulatory charges of ~$33.00 will have to paid no matter what". What other company can charge you for something you can't get?

Way to go Ontario Hydro.

Work. Part 3

On Wednesday I finally heard that I was being extended at the Service Desk until September 7.
Nice to have a clue. :)

I was told by the wrong person but at least I know where I'm going to be for a while.

When this extension ends, who knows. There is no plan at this point but I am told that I'll be doing something, somewhere.

Work. Part 2

Here we are after day 2 and still I have not been told what I am to do or who I report to.
I have heard from another employee that they heard my time at the Service Desk is being extended pending some paperwork.

*sigh*

It's sad really. Not unusual to be honest but still sad. If I was a manager I would...
No, wait. I'm not and I'm thinking again.

Never mind.

Work

Should be going back to my normal desk tomorrow.
Been working at the Service Desk for about 2 months because the CIO said he heard I don't do anything and play games and surf the internet all day.
Funny, my job involves the internet... Who knew.
Management through rumour. Excellent.

Anyway, Friday was supposed to be my last day there. I'm told by my temporary manager that it may be extended so I should expect to hear something. Question: Would a good manager not tell you about this before hand? Just asking.

So here's what I intend to do. Go to my old desk and sit down. Perhaps I'll check my mail and surf the internet a bit. See what happens.

I hate bullshit.

Medical Update

Last Thursday, May 26th, had an appointment with the Oncologist at Sunnybrook Hospital.
It was a short appointment.

He told us that it was nice to have me as a patient but it was no longer necessary to have 2 oncologist's as they cannot see any cancer in any of my abdominal scans.
He said that if I needed anything in the future I could just call as I was already a patient of his.

I have had what he called "a good outcome". I thought from our appointment in early April that this is what he meant about not having to take any more of the pills I was on but this confirms it.

I will still be monitored regularly going forward as all cancer patients are. The surgical specialist who was contemplating operating on my liver will be doing an MRI in the next few months. More of a precautionary measure at this point. Then again it may also be a short appointment.

The last year has been tough at times but in the end it looks like it has turned out very well. Not many people can say that after the diagnosis I was given.
